Annual Meeting/HR Law Update

The ALA Nutmeg Chapter Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Sheraton Hartford South Hotel. Many attendees enjoyed lunch and networking while the official vote was taken to elect officers for 2017-2019. Jennifer L. Schancupp, Esq. of Jackson Lewis PC presented the HR Update, "What's New in 2016/2017? A Workplace Law Update". This excellent presentation covered pay equity, bathroom access rights, disability and leave issues, recent case law, and employment status. Attorney Schancupp reviewed what we may expect in 2017 with the Trump Administration at the helm, particularly with respect to CHRO, EEOC, NLRB, and the Department of Labor. She reviewed the issue of "Free Speech" in the workplace given the highly polarized campaign of 2016. Finally, she reviewed some Best Practices. The program was relevant and of course, necessary!
